ABOUT ABOUT

Chelsea House Orchestra's annual Hometown Show with special guests will take place on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, at 7 p.m. at Chelsea High School.

Our show will feature performances from the Beach Middle School Fiddle Club, the Chelsea House Orchestra (CHO), the North Creek Fiddlers, followed by a special performace from Brad Phillips.

Our final performance of the evening will bring CHO back to the stage with our interns to get your toes tapping and hands clapping!

ABOUT OUR PERFORMERS

Chelsea House Orchestra (CHO) provides a varied and colorful performance repertoire with the majority of the music derived from traditional Celtic sources. However, other folk music sources are used to provide students with an eclectic musical experience.

The basic philosophy of the arrangements is to allow everyone in the group to enjoy Celtic music as much as possible. Consequently, the majority of the playing is melody based with very little inner harmony or separate part writing. This truly provides students a contrasting experience from their normal school orchestra.

All music is memorized and arrangements often evolve from rehearsals and suggestions from students. Individuals are showcased through the use of solos, duos, and special features.

The Beach School Fiddle Club is always a fan favorite, giving the audience a glimpse of future CHO talent!  Many of our  members started in this program, providing them a strong base before graduating to perform with CHO.  Led by the amazing Mr. Nathan Peters, these talented youngsters learn the meachanics and the heart of Celtic music performance.

The North Creek Fiddlers have been playing together since 2006. They started out playing Irish folk music, but later expanded to cover tunes by such greats as Roy Acuff, John Denver, Johnny Cash and others. One of the local favorites at events such as Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights, join The North Creek Fiddlers for a rollicking time and good music!

CHO is thrilled to welcome Brad Phillips to the stage this year.  Brad is quickly becoming known as one of the counrty's most forward-thinking string teachers. An alumnus of SMTD in Jazz (BFA '07 & MM '15), Brad studied classical violin alongside his improvisational studies in Jazz and traditional Roots Music.  Identifying primarily as a multi-genre violinist or "fiddler," he is also highly regarded as a mandolinist, guitarist, vocalist and storyteller.
